Marrakech School of Fashion- 2019

2nd Year Building Project

On a transformative journey during my second year at the Bartlett, we ventured to the enchanting city of Marrakech. There, amidst its historical tapestry, I envisioned a fashion school, drawing inspiration from the city's deep textile heritage and the iconic Yves St Laurent, who has a dedicated museum in this city.

The school isn't merely a structure; it stands as a testament to the preservation of culture, marrying ancient traditions with contemporary techniques, especially in a world where globalisation often blurs cultural identities. Architecturally, the building seems to levitate, designed purposefully to harness the cooling Marrakech breezes, providing a natural solace for its students. A celebration of lightness, both in form and philosophy.
