Cycle Odyssey - 2020
Parasitic Bicycle Drawing Machine - 3rd year
During my third year at the Bartlett School of Architecture, I embarked on a project named 'Cycle Odyssey'. This venture sought to encapsulate the essence of a bike ride in a visual form. I engineered a device that attached itself to the bike's frame. This device connected a drawing circle to the bike's pedals. As the pedals moved, the drawing circle rotated, and an arm equipped with distance sensors sketched the journey. By comparing sketches from varied journeys, it was evident how each drawing echoed different aspects of the experience: the time spent, proximity to surroundings, close calls with vehicles, expansive spaces, and the pace at which I travelled.
