Josef Stöger is an award-winning artist and architect based in London. Born in Seattle, to two biology professors, he developed a deep fascination with nature, science and the arts from an early age, which has profoundly influenced his work throughout his career. He graduated with a distinction in his masters degree in Architecture at the Bartlett, UCL, which is ranked as the leading architecture school globally. During his time there, he honed his skills in a variety of creative mediums, including algorithmic design, digital fabrication, and virtual reality. Over the last five years he has pioneered advanced techniques in the field of Clay 3D printing and this research was recognised with the Sir Andrew Taylor prize from UCL.
Josef is fascinated by the idea that technology can help us gain a deeper understanding of the organised complexity of our universe and the interrelationship between humans and ecology. He continues to explore this theme in his work, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and techniques to create objects, installations and architecture.
