Sister Nancy - 2022
Self Built Clay 3D Printer
W:40cm L:40cm H:90cm
Sister Nancy stands as a testament to the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology – a self-constructed, delta-style clay 3D printer. Drawing inspiration from the pioneering work of Jonathan Keep (http://www.keep-art.co.uk/), I created Sister Nancy to bridge my digital designs with tangible reality. This printer transforms the age-old art of clay coil building, embracing clay's rich texture which far surpasses the feel of plastics. Even after a print is complete, there's room for a human touch, be it in post-processing or glazing. Sister Nancy is not just a machine, but a medium for human interaction. It’s called Sister Nancy because it used to go “Bam Bam” a lot while I was still figuring out the electronics and hardware.
